Job Description

PIVOT Job Corps is looking for an Academic Instructor (Math) to join a dynamic team of individuals making a difference in the lives of young people. PIVOT is a community of 60 non-residential young adults (16 – 24 years) earning their high school diploma or GED, learning career and technical training, and preparing for their careers. PIVOT teaches independent living skills, focuses on developing a positive learning environment, and utilizes a trauma informed approach to student services. The PIVOT program is a satellite center to Springdale Job Corps in Troutdale Oregon and is located in the Montgomery Park building in Northwest Portland. Students attend year round.

The Academic Instructor is responsible for teaching basic education in math or reading, GED preparation and high school classes. Low staff to student ratios facilitate individualized learning.

Skill Requirements

Must have Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching license in the state of Oregon. Computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license in state of residence with an acceptable driving record. One year instructional experience preferred.
