Albertina Kerr strengthens Oregon families and communities by helping children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges - empowering them to live richer lives.
Kerr is looking for a creative and energetic Direct Support Professional at their art-based day program for adults experiencing intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This is a floater position. This opening acts as a substitute for absent staff. Willingness to be flexible and ability to transition quickly are musts. The skill to recognize need and fill in as necessary will allow a candidate to easily flourish.
A successful Direct Support Professional will be an engaged and compassionate individual who is willing to support our participants with their activities of daily living needs. This will include following medical protocols and support documents, and helping our participants navigate emotional and interpersonal relationships.

A typical day at our program involves art classes, skill building, and community integration. An ideal candidate will have the self-motivation to facilitate organized activities to help our participants prosper in a person centered way.
A positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team is a must. Strong communication skills are essential for this position as our program operations have many constantly moving parts. A successful applicant will be flexible and willing to change task based on priority. They lead when necessary and follow when asked.
We are dedicated to enriching the lives of the people we serve. We do this through creative problem solving and innovative thinking. We are looking for someone who can use their creative practice and awareness as a tool to support the people we serve. We need people who have a personal passion and the excitement to share it. What we really want is people who have the ability to make connections and inspire others to engage.
Candidates with experience in the arts or the social sciences supports ability to transition into this field. Folks who have a passion for advocacy for marginalized populations also move very fluidly into our program, as they have the institutional knowledge of working with such a diverse population.
Experience in the field of direct care is not required; for many of our amazing staff, this position opened up a new world of tapping into transferable skills.
The position offers up to 40 hours per week. This program serves our clients Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm.
Successful candidates will have:
•a high school diploma or GED
•be able to lift, push, and pull 75 pounds consistently throughout the shift
•have the ability to relate effectively with the people we serve
•be able to respond to crisis situations
•be able to meet agency driving requirements with a valid driver's license and a 2-year clean driving history
•A criminal background check is required.
PAY: Starting at $12.28/Hr
